‘We try to follow Jesus in everything we do’

Project G - a plan for peace - a special delivery!

Recently we were pleased that a delegation of children from St Margaret Mary's and some other local Schools attended a special Peace conference organised by Manchester City council at the Manchester Museum.  Project G recalls the devastation of the Hiroshima atomic bomb and with the Mayors for Peace, promotes peace in Manchester and throughout the world.

The aim of Project G is to promote the growh of peace and highlights the Ginkgo tree which survived the atomic bomb . We are delighted to have been selected to  receive a tree which has been grown from the seeds of a Ginkgo tree from Hiroshima in Japan, and  which we intend to plant in our Peace Garden as a continual  reminder that we are Pecemakers. A big thank you to Sean Morris and Dave Barlow from the Mayors for Peace Project who explained how to look after the tree which we have promised to take great care of as we continue to promote peace.

Our School has been involved with this project for two years now, when our School won an art competition to illustrate peace and remember Hiroshima..  Our current Art club has been thinking of how to promote peace and develop our own Peace plan.
