Our aim is to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to use ICT securely, confidently, creatively, critically and independently. We believe that Information and Communication Technology is a powerful tool for learning. We promote its use throughout the whole curriculum using a variety of suitable programmes and hardware.
Pupils can develop a vast range of skills that will empower them and successfully prepare them to use ICT in a wide range of situations in the rapidly changing technological world, and which will be a valuable asset for their future.
ICT is used to enhance learning in all subjects and within the creative curriculum and to develop pupil skills. All children are encouraged to communicate ideas and information in a variety of forms, where appropriate, using equipment and computer software to enhance their learning. Our children are equipped for success with: Internet provision, Interactive whiteboards, Visualizers, Kindles, programmable robotic toys, laptops, video recorders and cameras.
Also a variety of extra Curricular Clubs are offered, such as the Digismart club for Year 5 children which is part of the Shine Charity Research project.
E – Safety is of utmost importance and we at St Margaret Mary’s RC Primary School recognise that it is our duty to ensure that every child in our care is safe, and the same principles should apply to the ‘virtual’ or digital world as would be applied to the school’s physical buildings. Our E-safety Policy is drawn up to protect all parties – the students, the staff, governors and the school community and aims to provide clear advice and guidance on how to minimise risks and how to deal with any infringements.
