Autumn, by Miss Howells

Date: 25th Sep 2018 @ 6:32pm

This week we have been learning about our current season, Autumn. We have talked about autumnal colours, yellow, red, orange and brown. We have noticed that some of the leaves have already turned these colours and have fallen to the ground. We have been using our senses on autumn walks around the school. We felt the leaves crunch in our hands, we heard the wind blowing and we smelt the lovely hot dinners from the canteen. We collected some leaves along the way to create textured hedgehogs :)

We have based our big book on weddings by reading The Scarecrow's Wedding and have wrote lists of things you need just like in the story. We have even written invitations to our friends and family inviting them to watch the royal wedding. For this activity we have learnt who is getting married, where they will be getting married, on what date and the time. During our choosing time we have been busy making our own crowns and designing cakes and dresses. To end the day, we gathered together with our new crowns and asked and answered questions about the royal wedding ready for the big day. We are so excited!

EYFS Pirate Day, by Miss Howells

Date: 11th Apr 2018 @ 4:25pm

Our topic this term is pirates so we decided to invite our pirate friend Ron to hold an exciting day for the children in the EYFS. Our morning began with an interactive talk about pirates learning all about pirates and their adventures. We used our thinking brain to ask Pirate Ron lots of questions which we were bursting to know! Pirate Ron then told us a story about a princess who had her treasure stolen by cheeky pirates. We really enjoyed the puppet show and helping Pirate Ron keep the princess' treasure safe. In the afternoon, Nursery had lots of fun creating parrots and making repeating patterns on their new neckerchiefs. Reception spent the afternoon following Pirate Rons instructions by making their own pirate/mermaid hand puppets. They got really creative using lots of different materials. All of the children in the EYFS had a fantastic day and are really enthusiastic to learn even more about pirates in the next few weeks. Thank you Pirate Ron for your visit!
