Celebrating Chinese New Year and Pancake day in Nursery

Chinese New Year

We celebrate Chinese New Year from the 4th to the 8th February this year with the year of the monkey. See the fabulous markets in Manchester this weekend. The highlight will take place in China town and Albert Square on Sunday, 7th of February.  At midday - there will be dancing, martial arts and the famous dragon parade. This will be followed by a fire work show at 6.00 p.m.

To celebrate, we will be hearing the story of Chinese New Year making our own large and small dragons and trying some dragon dancing!  We will also  try some Chinese food.

Dragon - puppets - please bring an empty large or small cereal box to make a dragon puppet.

For more information - see the CBeebies Chinese New Year films online.

Shrove Tuesday

We mark the beginning of Lent by making traditional pancakes.

We will also hear the stories of "The Enormous Pancake" and "Mr Wolf's Pancakes."

On Ash Wednesday we will begin thinking of our Lenten promises and how we can be kind and caring in this year of Mercy.
