It was so lovely to welcome you all to the Macmillan Coffee Afternoon that we held in school on the 27th September. Thank you so much for your generous donations of cake and biscuits, together we raised a grand total of £453.69!

The children in Year 1 and 1/2 made a fantastic start planting in preparation for harvest. The good old Manchester weather appeared right on cue cutting the afternoon shorter than planned but children had a great time digging and planting new bulbs and flowers. We look forward to continuing the gardening next week. Thank you to all the parents who Came to support us, it is much appreciated.

Year 1 have been working very hard on their own Lost and Found stories. They were very proud of their stories so took them up to Year 6 to share their fabulous writing. The Year 6's were very impressed.

It was really fun weeding the planters, turning over the soil and planting our bulbs! A huge thank you to the parents who came to support our regrowth project! Now roll on summer so we can see our hard work pay off!

In Key Stage One we celebrated International women's Day by exploring great women who changed the world. The children all enjoyed discovering about the different ways women have helped change the world. We created a display to celebrate our achievements.

This morning, we had a lovely suprise from Year 1 and 2. They have been busy thinking of fantastic ideas to write their own stories. They have each written a book themselves, including illistrations, and asked if they could read them to Nursery and Reception. We really enjoyed hearing our partners stories and asked a few questions afterwards. Thank you for sharing!

Today we were very lucky to have a visit from the amazing Olympian Nicola White. We were so excited to hear all about her Olympic news and about the fantastic game of hockey. It was a really great afternoon and we were very inspired!

As part of our topic,Into the Woods, we have been looking at different versions of the traditional tale "Little Red Riding Hood." As you can see the pupils were very excited to witness a courtcase where Walter the Wolf was declaring that he was innocent. It was very exciting! By the end of the case a number of children believed that Walter was innocent. However, Little red Riding Hood won the case on the day by a few extra votes. Poor walter did put up a good fight but remains defeated and behind bars!

Children in Key Stage 1 had been learning all about Instructional Writing, this included recipe writing. At the end of the week we followed instructions to make rice crispie cakes. Yummy!!!

We looked at different food which we give thanks for at Harvest time. We gave theanks to god for what he has provided us with and celebrated the farmers, fishermen and workers who strive to give us what we need. We looked at different fruit vegetables and bread and explored the details of them individually. Then we drew and sketched these using light/dark lines and shading. 

Adding and subtracting 2 2 digit numbers concretely, by Mrs Burton

Have a look at our year 2 pupils working together to add and subtract 2 2 digit numbers using equipment to help them. By the end of the fortnight most of the children were doing this without using equipment. We are very proud how they are begining to apply this knowledge to more complex problems.

The whole school took part in 'Race for life' and had a great time running to raise money for an amazing cause.

The children had a great time and were all awarded a medal at the end of the race - well done to all of our fantastic children.

Yoga and Relaxation, by Miss White

Durring the next 3 weeks children in year two will be completing their SATs. They have all worked tremendously hard all year and this is the time for them to celebrate all their hard work. To ensure the children stay calm and relaxed during this time we have been completing yoga and relaxation activties.
