Down Syndrome Awareness Day, by Miss Howells

In EYFS, we celebrated our differences by wearing odd socks! We wore socks of all different colours, patterns and lengths, to raise awarness :)

The year 1 children have been out on the field planting a variety of different flowers in their very own planters! It was really fun weeding the planters, turning over the soil and planting our bulbs! A huge thank you to the parents who came to support our regrowth project! Now roll on summer so we can see our hard work pay off!

In Year 1 we have been learning how to read the time on an analogue clock. We can read the time to the hour and half past the hour. We created a human clock and really enjoyed being the hour and minute hands.

During our ICT lessons we got a chance to become code makers and programmers by using a programme on purple mash to create different scenes and programme the characters in these scenes to go where we wanted them too! It was really interesting to see what happens behind the scenes on websites.

The 21st of March is a very special day ... it’s world Down syndrome day it’s a chance to raise awareness and create a voice globally advocating for the rights and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome as well as the amazing impact those close to us with Down syndrome have on our lives and our hearts! As a school we wore mismatched or different socks and in year 4 our socks were rocked and we celebrated for our friends with Down syndrome.

In Key Stage One we celebrated International women's Day by exploring great women who changed the world. The children all enjoyed discovering about the different ways women have helped change the world. We created a display to celebrate our achievements.

In english we have read the book 'Zoo' by Anthony Browne, we have looked at the pros and cons of zoos. We got in our table groups and wrote lists of the positives and negatives of the zoo taking into account the feelings of humans who visit the zoo and the animals who live there.
Collective Worship - Forgiveness, by Miss Doyle

We have been working hard to prepare a wonderful collective worship session for parents and friends of the children in year 4. On friday, we spoke about the importance of forgiveness and how God accepts us and forgives us no matter what we have done just like the father forgave the prodigal son. We also performed "blinded by your grace" by Stormzy as we found the words very fitting on the topic of forgiveness from God.

In english, we have been looking at poetry linked to our topic work on Ancient Egypt. We have wrote poems about the process of becoming a mummy and we did not leave out the gruesome bits! We then got a chance to perform our poems to each other and the whole class!

St. Patrick's Super Learning Day, by Miss Howells

To celebrate St.Patrick's Day we had a whole afternoon to explore different Irish traditions. Some Year 2 children kindly came to show us how to do Irish dancing and then we had a go ourselves. We also made Irish flags, tasted some soda bread, and made some lovely St. Patrick's Day cards for our families.

Over the past few weeks, we have been working really hard on our assembly which was all about how to be kind. We acted out the story of The Little Yellow Chicken, who has some unkind friends and explained that we want to be like the Little Yellow Chicken because she always kind and did things for others. We also showed how we can be a good friend in school situations by saying 'Yes' to helping and sharing. We are very proud of our assembly and will continue to be kind to our friends and family at school and at home.

In Year 4 we have been learning all about habitats in our science lessons. Today we got the chance to explore the school field and hunt for mini beasts in their habitats exploring and learning what kind of place they like to live in. We found worms, spiders, lady birds and more and we had real fun exploring the mud and banging on the ground to get the worms to come to the surface!

As part of our Science learning about living things and their habitats, we decided to explore the school grounds for microhabitats. Armed with gloves, magnifying glasses, observation pots, tweezers and trowels, we set off into the school grounds. We had a wonderful time looking for animals and minibeasts and we recorded our findings once we got back into the classroom. As part of their English learning, the children in years 3 and 4 wrote a voice over to match a short animation. After all the writing, proof reading and editing had been completed, the children from all three classes went into the hall where some children were chosen to read their voice over as the animation was played. Everyone enjoyed watching the animation and listening to the voice overs.

The snow didn't stop us from having a really exciting world book day! The theme was hats and the children were given the opportunity to come in different hats. From berets to fabulous home-made book-themed hats, the head gear was certainly something to be marvelled at!
Year 6 Field Hockey Finals, by Miss Doyle

The year 6 hockey team had a fantastic opportunity to play field hockey against lots of schools across Manchester! In the tournament we reached the finals and we played extremely well against a lot of different schools! A huge well done to Caidie-Leigh, Christian, Alfie, Liam, Mikayla and Mia, you have really done the school proud.
