Art Club make Willow Pattern characters, by Mrs Hall
Date: 3rd Feb 2019 @ 11:10pm
The Art Club have been busy making characters ready to tell the story of the Willow Pattern plate....
We decided to tell our own stories after seeing one on the Internet. We are working in groups to make
puppets and plan scenery.
The Willow Pattern story followed Chinese fables told on ceramics but is actually an 18th Century Shropshire pottery design.
It tells the story of a rich Mandarin who wished to marry his daughter to a Merchant. But she fell in love with a poor clerk. The plate shows how they eloped but were caught and escaped as two doves.
