Year 6 have been learning how to draw shapes accurately when given a set of instructions about angles and dimensions.  We played the Barrier Game which was a lot of fun!

Year 6 have been learning all about the different components of the blood in our 'Animals Including Humans' topic. We sorted out the different statements to match the different parts of blood.

PCSO’s visit, by Miss Dobie

Today, the children received a visit from our local PCSO’s to inform and discuss knife crime. The children responded in a very mature way and considered the dangers involved and how to keep themselves safe. The children also had the opportunity to ask any questions, which were very thought provoking and demonstrated how each child is a responsible citizen. 

Young Voices 2018, by Miss Dobie

St Margaret Mary’s choir took part in this years Young Voices concert at the Manchester Arena. The children were joined by others schools from in and around Manchester. The children have shown great dedication and commitment in learning a range of songs and actions to perform in front of a live audience. 

The evening was a great success and everyone (including staff) had a fantastic evening and enjoyed being part of the event. Take a look at our photographs and videos from the evening.

Years 5 & 6 have been working hard making different Christmas crafts over the past week to sell at out Christmas Fair.  All money raised will be donated to The Booth Centre, helping those who are homeless in our city.

Today, the choir performed at the Ashgrove House Care Home performing a number of well known Christmas Carols. The children definitely helped to spread joy and Christmas cheer to all the staff and residents and helped everyone to experience a happy and holy Christmas!

Another eventful day.... the weather has been getting a little bit colder but we had a fantastic time today! It started with Miss Welch getting  'stuck in the mud' during an orienteering session in the forest and we finished the day building shelters and playing some team games!

Today has been another busy day. We have climbed a mountain and admired the beautiful scenery! As well as that, we were really lucky to visit a farm where we saw cows, sheep, pigs, bulls, dogs and a donkey.

We have had a fantastic first day here at Hinning House! Take a look at some of our trepid explorers... Tonight we had a quiz and decorated the Christmas Tree ( that we chopped down ourselves!) We're all looking forward to more fun tomorrow here in the great outdoors.

Another cold but fantastic day in the Lakes.  Mr Sutton woke us up and joined us for breakfast, bright and early.  We wrapped up warm and headed out on the mountain bikes.  We cycled over to the woods and learnt how to build shelters in teams.  After a warm lunch, we ventured out again, practising our orienteering skills in the nearby woods.

Another cold and busy day today.  This morning we did orienteering and group walks, admiring the beautiful scenery.  This afternoon we all took part in ghyll scrambling which was fun and slightly challenging! This evening, we'll do a bit of stargazing as the skies are so clear, followed by an alien hunt on the field!

We've had an extremely busy second day at Hinning House.  We woke up, had a filling breakfast then helped around the house- doing lots of chores!  Weather was beautiuful; the sun shone all day. However, we did have to wrap up warm as it was freezing! Today, one group developed their independence in a lone (group) walk whilst the other group did orienteering.  After lunch, we all climbed a nearby mountain and appreciated the stunning views around, particularly snow-capped Scafell Pike!

Day 1 - We arrived safely at Hinning House and the weather quickly brightened up! We are having a fantastic time settling in.  After unpacking and making our beds, we all went out exploring the local area.  Dinner was delicious! We're having a nice relax before quiz time and games night tonight!

On Our Lady's birthday (Mary) , we remembered and celebrated her by writing prayers to her. She is also known as the 'Undoer of Knots' as she helps us to undo any problems in our lives. We wrote our prayers on cloth and knotted them onto a prayer tree near our classroom.

On Friday the 28th of April, we celebrated the Queen's birthday, St.George's Day and our British Values by kicking off our half term's theme 'Being British'. All children dressed in red, white and blue and some of our teachers even came dressed as famous British people! At dinner-time, we had a wonderful British themed dinner and in the afternoon we made our very own St.George's Day mascots!

Year 6 have been doing lots of fun activities in the build up to Easter. We took part in an Egg-O-Rama competition! For this, we had to design a theme and paint eggs with a background. We had a range of designs including The Hobbit, Macdonalds and an under-water scene...Have a look at our amazing talent! We also took part in an Easter quiz and made Easter cards. Have a great Easter break everyone...
