We had great fun exploring adaptations and created our very own animals. We also got to look at some live animals and an exhibit on climate change which featured the peppered moths!

The whole school took part in 'Race for life' and had a great time running to raise money for an amazing cause.
The children had a great time and were all awarded a medal at the end of the race - well done to all of our fantastic children.

The children in the EYFS all participated in a sports afternoon, everybody enjoyed the afternoon, fun was had by all!!
Blackpool Zoo, by Miss White

This week the children in year two enjoyed a fantastic visit to Blackpool Zoo. The children loved exploring the different animals at the zoo, espeically the gorillas, tigers, orangatangs, giraffes, penguins and otters. All the children behaved extremely well and were a credit to the zoo. The children even remained calm when a seagull swooped down and stole Lexi's sandwhich.

Reception have been learning about where they live (New Moston). They have looked at Manchester and talked about the things they recognise such as the Manchester City ground. We then expanded this and talked about Manchester being in the United Kingdom and again the United Kingdom being in Europe. We looked at the other countries in Europe and talked about where the chidlren have been on holiday.
Peppered Moth Project!, by Miss Allison

In Reception we have been learning about peppered moths. We have used the computer to find out lots of interesting facts about moths. Our favourite is that they impersonate other animals such as bees and trantulas to scare off their predators.
We then mixed paint to find the right colour and a dabbing motion to create the effect of a moth. Have a look at our work!

This week we have been learning about why refugees leave their countries in school. We have been thinking about how we would feel if we left our country. We considered how we could be welcoming and produced an artistic representation of this...

Year 6 and The Chocolate Factory!
In Year 6 we have been writing Willy Wonka style recipes to create amazing Chocolate bars. We planned what ingredients we wanted to use and thought about the method we would use to make them. After writing up our fantastic recipes we then made our Wonka bars by melting chocolate into moulds and adding in all our chopped treats. We included lots of ingredients- especially popping candy! While the chocolate was setting in the fridges, we designed our Wonka bar wrappers with lots of bold colours and designs. Please take a look at some pictures of us with our final chocolate bars!
