Today, the children helped to maintain the current garden beds and add more seasonal plants. The children worked hard to clear the beds of weeds, plant different bulbs and finally water the plants. The children have shown how they are responsible stewards and care for the world around them.

In our fractured fairy tales topic in English we got chance to explore lots of different fairy tales with funny and perculiar endings and characters. Each of us got a chance to read the stories in our groups! They were very funny!

In science we have made our very own phones using cups and string investigating how sound travels down the string so the person on the other end can hear. What a perfect lesson for us chatterboxes!

We have been looking at sound in science and explored what makes sounds. Using materials brought from home we made our very own musical instruments and we were rocking!

In RE we have been looking at the process of reconciliation. In groups we have acted out situations in which an apology is needed and shown the importance of forgiveness.

During our Philosophy lesson (P4C) we thought about what we could do as King or Queen .

We thought about where we would live, what we would eat and what we would do.

We would have lots of power, be very polite and have very good manners!

A wonderful wedding was held in the Nursery to coincide with the Royal Wedding.

Guests gathered, lists and invitations were prepared and stories were read.

The Royal Wedding Celebrations, by Miss Howells

This week in Reception, we have been really excited about the royal wedding. We have learnt what a wedding is and why people get married. We have based our big book on weddings by reading The Scarecrow's Wedding and have wrote lists of things you need just like in the story. We have even written invitations to our friends and family inviting them to watch the royal wedding. For this activity we have learnt who is getting married, where they will be getting married, on what date and the time. During our choosing time we have been busy making our own crowns and designing cakes and dresses. To end the day, we gathered together with our new crowns and asked and answered questions about the royal wedding ready for the big day. We are so excited!

Miss Howells' Collective Worship , by Miss Howells

Today we held a collective worship all about friends. We talked about how to be a good friend and how we could help children in different situations. We reflected on how we could be a kind friend everyday. We finished by singing the song 'Jesus is our best friend' because we know that he is always watching over us and caring for us. Thank you to everyone who came to join us :)

Year 5's Trip to Liverpool World Museum , by Miss Percival

In year 5 we have been studying ' How did the Greek's change the world?' and as part of this exciting topic we went on a trip to the 'Liverpool world Museum' to discover more about Ancient Greece and the daily lives of the people. Luckily, we also had time during the day to explore the museum further with fantastic exhibitions on bugs, dinosaurs and an aquarium. Additionally, we recapped our previous science topic of 'Space' in the Space and Time exhibition. We had a fantastic day full of amazing learning. 

Interpreting data with jelly babies , by Miss Doyle

In maths we have been looking at interpreting data we conducted our own investigation to the amount of different coloured jelly babies in a packet. We worked in groups to collect the data and put it on a tally chart and a bar graph. Then the best part... we got to eat them!

St. George's Day, by Miss Howells

In Reception, we have read the story of St. George and the dragon. We have discussed how we can follow in the footsteps of God like our patron Saint. To celebrate, we have looked at the English flag and created yummy biscuits to resemble it using icing and strawberry laces :) Delicious!

The EYFS children were sent a letter from a famous Pirate, complete with treasure map, which they were very eager to explore!

They followed instructions, pictures and symbols to discover the hidden hoard!

During the Spring Term, we created movie trailers based on 'Carrie's War', a book we read in class. We practiced our filming and editing skills on the iPads to create our movie trailers. It was so much fun!

Classifying newly discovered species, by Miss Dobie

The children developed their classification skills by grouping newly discovered species. The children researched the anatomy of the species and generated enquiry questions to organise the different animals. Using this research, the children created a classification key.

Handa's Suprise Fruit Tasting, by Miss Howells

Our Big Book this week is Handa's Suprise. We had read the book but we were not familiar with the fruits in the story so we decided to do a food tasting session, rating the new fruits out if 5 stars. We then wrote about the fruits we liked and didn't like and why. We had fun exploring new flavours like mango, papaya, guava and avocado. 

Treasure Hunt , by Miss Howells

This week, we received a letter from Pirate Ron. Attached to the letter was a treasure map. Pirate Ron sent us on a treasure hunt to find the burried treasure. We took turns in directing our friends to the treasure using the arrows on the map. We were so excited to find chocolate coins!!

The children organised different sentences under the correct heading. The children focused on the simple, perfect and progressive tense and explained the features of the different tenses.
