Today the children conducted a Maths investigation using only four 4’s. The children were able to use any operation and used BODMAS to help them make other numbers. It was interesting for the children to consider how to make other numbers and vary their operations.

This week, we are exploring the text ‘My name is not refugee’ and discussing life as a refugee. Today the children reflected on life as a child during a difficult journey and considered items they would take with them. The children put a lot of thought into their items and considered what would be necessary to take and included some personal items.

Year 6 enjoyed the challenge of figuring out how to play 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' on the glockenspiels.  They did very well listening carefully to the different notes!

The children in Year 6 explored the forest school site by identifying the boundaries, finding potential hazards such as nettles and playing games. The children had a lot of fun and are looking forward to den building next week.

Sports Day was a huge success this year and the children had a very enjoyable afternoon participating in a range of activities.

The children demonstrated fantastic teamwork and communication skills throughout the tournament whilst competing in a number of different events including: quoit balance, hockey dribble, obstacle course, hurdles, egg and spoon and the bean bag throw.

The children had lots of fun and we would like to thank all parents, guardians and members of the school community who attended the event and showed their support on the day!

Well done to all of the children in the EYFS for taking part in our sports day, they were all fantastic and learnt lots of new skills, a great afternoon was had by all.

Last half term, the children learned all about living things and their habitats. To review the children’s learning, the children have created a leaflet to inform people about local wildlife and researched both fauna and flora found within the school grounds.

This half term, the children will be working with MCFC to develop their skills in athletics and other areas of sport. Today, the children focused on the skills needed for football and handball.

The Nursery children enjoyed reading "The Rainbow Fish," and finding out that although  he was selfish and proud -  he learned how to be kind and share with others.

We thought about this too, and how we could be "fishers of men," be kind and love each other  and tell everyone about the good news of Jesus.

In English we have been writing our own playscripts for the jungle book, the play we went to see at the Lowry. In class we split into groups and practiced our play and ten got to perform it in front of the class.

We have had an amazing week in year 4, we have had a tremendous effort with all aspects in our school life such as in class, reading at home, homework and attendance so we decided to enjoy the nice weather and sit out in the sunshine and listen to stories with an ice lolly!

Our Grass heads have grown!, by Miss Percival

We are very excited to announce that our Grass Heads have grown! We have cared for them over the last few weeks by giving them lots of water, plenty of light and making sure the temperature is just right for them. We have now taken them home for a much needed haircut.

A very special day for us as catholics is Pentecost we think about the Holy Spirit appearing to the disciples as tongues of fire above their head. With this we celebrate the birth of the church and as part of these celebrations we made our very own doves as our symbol of peace, love and the Holy Spirit and as it was a celebration we even had a little party with a huge slice of cake!
